The Home-Run Contest world records' list was maintained on the smash site All is Brawl but its record keeping was lost upon the site's demise. A history of Home-Run Contest and its milestones up until about 2005 can be found on the site Folderol, but note that the Home-Run Contest record's list is out of date. Due to differences in knockback scaling, certain moves can send the Sandbag farther than a Home-Run swing once the Sandbag's accumulated damage has become high enough. Knocking Sandbag to the platform's left will automatically result in no distance. 2-player Co-Op is now supported, both in simultaneous and alternating modes and can also be played online with a friend. Through hacking, in Sudden Death, Bob-ombs have been found only to spawn on the left side of the main platform.

Since almost the beginning of SSBM, HRC has been played competitively. Originally, before the game's release in Europe, North America and Japan had a competition between each other for the highest HRC scores. This then moved out to include Europe when the game was released in its PAL version. This competitive nature has continued and grown onto SSBB, especially due to the replay function and video streaming sites such as YouTube. In addition to the roster of playable fighters, several non-playable characters appear as summonable items via "Assist Trophies" or Poké Balls, background stage hazards, enemies, collectibles, or bosses in the single-player modes. While some were specifically created for use in the Super Smash Bros. series, most come from established game franchises like the playable characters.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Melee and returning in all games since then, although it was initially absent from Ultimate until the 5.0.0 update. The player must knock a Sandbag as far as possible, usually with the Home-Run Bat given. The player has ten seconds to rack up damage to lengthen the home-run. The most effective technique for dealing high damage very quickly is known as bat dropping. Melee, there is a wall approximately 50 feet to the left of the platform that the sandbag can bounce off of. Home-Run Contest gives certain fighters special attributes that they don't have in other game modes.Peach and Daisy will always pull out dot-eyed vegetables.

This page to improve it.In Ultimate, the Home-Run Bat's launch power is nerfed in the Home-Run Contest. This makes it easier for moves to outperform the bat, thereby leading to a much greater diversity of moves that outperform the bat than in Smash 4. The bat only appears after six seconds have passed, removing opportunities for early bat drop combos. It is still possible to do bat drop combos, but it only allows for a maximum of drops before disallowing anymore .

Melee introduced a left-hand counterpart to Master Hand named Crazy Hand, which appears alongside him in all subsequent games under certain conditions. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U features a new form, Master Core, a shapeshifting mass of black particles that emerge from Master Hand and Crazy Hand after their defeat. Master Hand and Crazy Hand have gone on to make cameo appearances outside of the Super Smash Bros. series, including in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror and Kirby's Dream Buffet. Certain items in the Super Smash Bros. series can be used to temporarily summon other characters into battle.

In co-op mode, it is possible to view the area to the left of the main platform. Right now, there’s no one out there trying to beat Typo’s world records—or if there is, he has yet to find them. But if you want to learn how to beat Typo, he’ll be the first to share all of his secrets in his live Twitch broadcasts. Moves that can hit farther than a Home-Run swing
Throughout the Super Smash Bros. series, most single-player modes have included several non-playable boss characters. Some of these bosses were created specifically for the Super Smash Bros. franchise. All games have featured fighters that largely share their moves and abilities with another fighter on the roster, but with minor differences in their presentation and gameplay. In Ultimate, several of these characters were officially labeled as "Echo Fighters". They have an option either to be displayed next to or within the character portrait from which they are based on. Adventure Mode came the inclusion of minor, generic enemies, such as Goombas from the Super Mario series and Octoroks from The Legend of Zelda series.
There are 89 playable characters across the series, mostly sourced from Nintendo franchises but with a number of third-party ones as well. There are also other non-player characters that take the form of enemies, bosses, and power-ups. Hitting with the handle of the bat can cause what is known as a no-ping hit. A no-ping hit is used to hit the Sandbag a lot farther than a regular bat hit at damage percentages lower than about 120%. Using a no-ping hit when the Sandbag is only at 35% damage will send the Sandbag over 1000 feet (304.8 meters). Pichu, Pikachu, and Mr. Game & Watch can do a no-ping hit by walking next the bag, turning away from the bag, and swinging.
Min Min immediately starts out with her left ARM always in powered-up state. The Sandbag has infinite knockback resistance when the first hit connects. Additionally, the Home-Run Bat sports its own unique Smash attack animations, allowing Captain Falcon and Sheik to properly use it for the contest.

The player starts on a platform with a Sandbag in the center, and the character about 1/3 of the way from the left of the platform facing right. On the left edge is a Home-Run Bat, which can be used to hit the bag extremely far. Hitting with the very end of the bat, known as a "tipper", makes Sandbag go farther than hitting with the middle of the bat, which goes farther than a close hit. During that time, the player is expected to deal as much damage to the Sandbag as possible.
Hits further than the bat at ~180%Does 23%Generally performed after lightly throwing the bat upwards then charging the Smash, but has same knockback in the air and on the ground.King Dedede's fully-charged Forward Smash. The Home-Run Contest (ホームランコンテスト, Home-Run Contest) is a minigame in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in which one must knock Sandbag as far as possible, usually with the Home-Run Bat. Jigglypuff is one of the few characters in the mode that can be KO'd, by breaking its shield. Also, Snake can be KO'd by blowing himself up with C4, and Steve can be KO'd by blowing himself up with TNT.

The shield is breakable, but it greatly lowers the difficulty of bringing the sandbag's damage up. Andross, to less-known characters like the Sheriff, Dr. Kawashima from Brain Age, and Isaac from Golden Sun. Some Assist Trophies, including Little Mac, Dark Samus and Isabelle, have gone on to appear as playable fighters in later installments. There have also been Assist Trophies based on third-party characters, such as Bomberman and Shovel Knight. Pyra and Mythra share a slot on the character select screen; players can freely switch between the two during battle.
Steve's alternate costumes change the character's name and appearance to Alex, a Zombie or an Enderman. In 3DS/Wii U and Ultimate, half of Olimar's alternate costumes change his name and appearance to Alph, a character from Pikmin 3. There is a shield around the platform which prevents Sandbag from being knocked out without sufficient force. The shield is breakable after being struck enough times or with sufficient force, but it greatly lowers the difficulty of bringing Sandbag's damage up.
Depending on how much damage you dole out, the bag could end up flying several thousand feet. But if you want to beat the world record with any character in the Home Run Contest, then you’re going to have to learn some unconventional strategies that have taken years for players to discover. With TAS, the co-op world record is held by Ike and Mario at 114,838.3 feet (35,002.7 meters), by YouTube user ShoPuyo . The Sandbag reaches 999% damage while there are still over 4 seconds left on the clock, and a finisher with the strongest known hitbox is used to send the bag flying. In Melee, it is also possible for some characters to hit the Sandbag with the handle of the bat, causing what is known as a no-ping hit, which sends the Sandbag at a much sharper angle. A no-ping hit only does 8% damage rather than 20%, but the change in angle causes the Sandbag to fly much farther when its damage is relatively low (lower than about 120%).
In 3DS/Wii U, Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner are under one character slot labeled simply as "Mii". However, stacking Echo Fighters also stacks the three Mii Fighters as they were in 3DS/Wii U. Getting a combined distance of 37,500 ft. will earn you the Ai no Uta CD. Using every character in Home-Run Contest will earn you the Sandbag trophy. Sandbag's position and scale are identical between versions while the platform's scale isn't, proving the US version has a smaller platform.

The NTSC characters "Duck Hunt" and "Mii Swordfighter" are referred to in PAL versions as "Duck Hunt Duo" and "Mii Sword Fighter." In Brawl and Ultimate, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard are listed together under the name "Pokémon Trainer" on the character select screen. The Pokémon Trainer appears in the background while the player takes direct control of one of the Pokémon, and can switch between them during the battle. In 3DS/Wii U, only Charizard is available as a standalone character. Some tickets in Master Orders involve reaching a certain distance in the Home-Run Contest. These tickets allow custom moves to be used (and used to allow equipment as well until version 1.0.8), something that is not normally possible when playing the Home-Run Contest.
